Statement on the possible merger of the Moravian Theatre Olomouc and the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc

The launch of a debate on the future of the Moravian Theatre Olomouc and the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra Olomouc is a legitimate political decision of the Olomouc representatives. The debate itself on the necessary changes should be a tool for the further development of the institutions, as their current form arose historically in different economic, political and social conditions. The reorganization of institutional service provision can also bring positive effects, if their quality is not reduced or reduced. Any such intervention in the operation of cultural institutions is nevertheless very sensitive and each step needs to be carefully considered, because its consequences may be irreversible and may set a precedent for the entire cultural network in the Czech Republic.
