Audition for the position of director of the Slovak National Theatre

The Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic has announced a selection procedure for the new Director General of the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava. The deadline for applications is December 5. The expected start date is February 2023.

Mgr. Jozef Švolík is temporarily in charge of the management of the theater.

Expectations from a new statutory officer

The new management of the Slovak National Theatre is expected to provide a sustainable model for financing individual artistic components, to ensure a management theatre team for the artistic components for the operation and development of the main activities with a clear vision oriented towards the current audience. The Slovak National Theatre will identify the needs and feedback from current visitors using relevant methods. It will develop a broader professional discussion with the founder and the professional public about the long-term direction of the organization and its development plans for 9 years and, in cooperation with the founder, will actively participate in the development of theatre policy.

In connection with the management of state property, the new management of the SND is expected to take a proactive approach and cooperate in developing investment plans and their implementation. At the same time, during repairs and maintenance, it will oversee the preservation of the genius loci of the buildings and their surroundings, while developing the necessary modern and technical equipment of the theater in unique solutions. In relation to various crisis situations, the SND is expected to have a maximally flexible and clearly communicated approach to creating solutions resulting from possible limitations (for example, energy crisis, pandemic, inflation, etc.), while maintaining the development of theater culture in innovative ways.
