The Ostrava Puppet Theatre will be led by Alena Punčochářová
The new director of the Ostrava Puppet Theatre will be Alena Punčochářová, a theatre manager who won the selection process, as of July. She will replace long-time director Jarmila Hájková, who decided to step down from the helm of the theatre after 20 years.

Alena Punčochářová worked at the Petr Bezruč Theatre, in the positions of production, artistic operations secretary and, since 2021, as the theatre's operations director. She participated in the Ostrava Dream Factory Ostrava festival in a managerial capacity and in the past she also worked at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre.
The puppet theatre as a professional stage was founded in 1953, and this year marks 70 years of its existence. Since 1999, the theatre has been based in the building on Černá louka. The theatre is the organizer of the international puppet festival Spectaculo Interesse, which, after a two-year pandemic break, will once again present interesting puppet shows in Ostrava this year. In addition to productions, the theatre also offers an artistic and educational program for schools and the public.
