Theaters raise the curtains together

Professional theaters from all over the country are encouraging their audiences not to be afraid to return to theaters after the unusually long theater holidays. A series of short videos is circulating on social networks. The campaign with the common slogan: WE RAISE THE CURTAIN! is sponsored by the Association of Professional Theaters.

"Help us keep the curtain as high as possible!" is the appeal from the Brno City Theatre.

The beginning of the season is marked by premieres for most theaters, as many of them are in the

the current season has already been postponed from the spring break. "We started the season at the beginning

September with the postponed premiere of the original production written by Jakub Žváček and directed by Jan Prušinovský

"Golden Beach. We were forced to postpone the planned premiere of the dramatization of Balzac's novel Lost Illusions from last season. We will present this production in April next year," presents the Prague Theatre Na zábradlí, which will bring four more premieres by the end of the season. The drama of the National Theatre Brno has a total of ten premieres planned for this season, the FX Šaldy Theatre in Liberec hosted the world premiere of the theatrical adaptation of Karolína Světlá's novel Sylva in mid-September, and other theatres are not far behind. The Prague National Theatre is starting a series of premieres. There is no shortage of new titles to choose from in Pilsen, Olomouc or Ostrava either.

In addition to theatrical performances, many theaters offer other experience programs to open the season. The A. Dvořák Theater in Příbram invites you to a tour of the backstage areas of its theater on Saturday, September 26. The Drak Puppet Theater in Hradec Králové is opening a new Children's Theater Ensemble.

Moreover, current information shows that there is no reason to be afraid of visiting a theater auditorium. "Auditoriums are safe for spectators," assures Stanislav Moša, chairman of the Association of Professional Theaters and director of the Brno Municipal Theater. "Last week, the Chief Hygienist of the Czech Republic, J. Rážová, confirmed that in the registered cases from cultural events, such as concerts and theaters, hygiene has not recorded any outbreaks. There are practically no sources of COVID-19 infection from such events," Minister of Culture Lubomír Zaorálek also reports on his Facebook profile. "Of course, we still have to be considerate, wear a mask, wash our hands and maintain distance as much as possible," he adds.

Theaters are prepared for their audiences and compliance with applicable rules. Masks are worn in the auditoriums. Theater employees have their body temperatures regularly measured when entering the building. "We carefully clean and disinfect the theater every day. The areas for the audience are hygienically separated from the areas for the employees. During the performance, we have a device turned on that blows fresh air into the hall and blows the exhaled air out. Of course, there are ubiquitous disinfections and masks. These are available free of charge in the dressing room if you forget your own," the Ústí nad Labem Drama Studio proclaims on Facebook. Similar measures have been set up in all other theaters. Everyone's priority is the safety of the audience and employees.

However, theaters are not avoiding quarantine either. Theaters are trying to perform even at the cost of substitutes and changing titles in the play schedule. No artists with risky contact are performing in the performances and the auditoriums remain safe. In necessary cases, theaters must cancel the planned program without compensation and refund admission fees.
