The Theatre Critics' Awards have nominations
The organizers of the Theatre Critics' Awards have announced the nominations for the best productions in Czech theatre last year. The nominations for the 2021 Production of the Year include Benjamin Britten's opera Peter Grimes, directed by David Radok at the National Theatre in Brno, Gorky's Vassa Železnovová, directed by Jan Frič at the National Theatre in Prague, and Manželská historie, directed by Jan Nebeský and performed by the JEDL association.

The title of Theatre of the Year will go to the JEDL association, the Prague Municipal Theatres or the National Theatre Opera in Brno. Apparently due to the close number of votes, the organizers announced five nominees in the category of Best Original First-Performed Czech Play.
The winner will be Špinarka, Vlasta Burian or Encyclopedia of Action Film (Divadlo pod Palmovkou). All three pieces were written by Tomáš Dianiška. Another chance is the cabaret Emil or About Háchovi (Divadlo D21) by Tomáš Jarkovský and Jakub Vašíček or Forest of Suicides (Divadlo Letí) by Kasha Jandáčková. The poll, traditionally organized by the professional magazine Svět a divadlo, was attended by 73 voters this time. The organizers will announce the results on March 13 in the Studio of Prague's Švandov divadlo.
